Students
receive instruction in the principles of air conditioning and
refrigeration equipment .
They gain practical experience in repairing
and servicing small and large equipment of this type. This program is
designed to provide training in electrical controls, fundamentals of
refrigeration, gas and electric heating and heat pump theory.
Instruction includes the servicing and repair of motors, compressors,
condensers, and evaporators as well as the installation of a complete
unit. After studying the heating and cooling load requirements, the
students plan the layout and design of a complete system for residential
and commercial buildings. Emphasis is placed on basic principles of
heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration as they relate to
residential and light commercial applications. Domestic home repairs and
servicing are also included to make a well-rounded service technician.
Related mathematics and physics as applied to air conditioning and
refrigeration are stressed. |
